Las Vegas Raiders running back Joshua Jacobs was booked on a DUI count early today after a single-vehicle crash near McCarran International Airport, according to Metro Police.
The crash happened about 4:40 a.m. near the Airport Connector and Sunset Road, police said. An investigation revealed that the driver, later identified as Jacobs, was impaired, police said.
Jacobs, 22, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said. After being treated, Jacobs was transported to the Clark County Detention Center, police said.
Raiders coach Jon Gruden said the team was aware of the incident and that Jacobs was OK. “I’m not at liberty to comment on it until I get more facts,” he said.
Jacobs rushed for 1,065 yards and 12 touchdowns this season and was selected to his first Pro Bowl. A first-round pick in the 2019 draft, Jacobs is considered one of the key pieces of the Raiders’ offense after rushing for more than 1,000 yards in each of his initial seasons.
The Raiders played their season finale on Sunday in Denver, where Jacobs rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns in a 1-point win.
Jacobs, who overcame homelessness as a youth, entered the league after three seasons at Alabama.
