Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg is going from the streets to the suites to the boardroom.

The West Coast rap icon is reportedly in the running for an executive role at Def Jam Records.

HITS Daily Double was first to report the “unsubstantiated but persistent rumors,” claiming that Snoop will hold “some kind of senior position” at the famed hip-hop label.

Snoop would not be the first rapper to take on an executive role at Def Jam. In 2004, JAY-Z was named president and CEO of the label and helped launch the careers of Rihanna and Ne-Yo before leaving three years later.

In 2018, Eminem’s longtime manager and co-founder of Shady Records, Paul Rosenberg, was named CEO of Def Jam before stepping down in 2020.

Snoop runs his own label Doggystyle Records, which he founded in 1999. The West Coast-heavy roster includes current and past signees such as 213, D.P.G.C., Tha Dogg Pound, and Tha Eastsidaz.

Snoop has not commented on the rumor, but he remains busy with his music and acting career. In April, he released his 18th studio album From Tha Streets 2 Tha Suites and has joined the cast of 50 Cent’s Starz drama “Black Mafia Family.”
