Cole Marquez’s touchdown run in the second overtime tonight provided the winning points in Durango’s 12-6 win against visiting Basic.
Durango had a chance to win in the first overtime, but its would-be game-winning field goal was blocked. Basic also had a chance to win on a kick, but missed an extra point with about two minutes remaining after scoring a touchdown to even the score at six.
“Our kids fought and won as a team,” Durango coach Toby Henry said. “Before we had to lean on a certain guy, but tonight it was a total team effort.”
Jaxon Young had a first-half touchdown for Durango.
