After scoring her first top 20 hit with “Big Energy,” the rapper formerly known as Mulatto reintroduces herself with her second studio album 777. The 23-year-old MC showcases her growth and versatility on the 13-track project, which includes appearances from 21 Savage, Lil Durk, Nardo Wick, and Kodak Black, plus a collaboration with Lil Wayne and Childish Gambino (“Sunshine”).
“I wanted to solidify myself and where I fit in the industry,” Latto told Complex of the follow-up to her 2020 debut Queen of Da Souf. “This is just the first introduction. ‘Big Energy’ is the pop sound from this project. I got an R&B sound. I got the rap trap sound. I got some rhythmic stuff that I did with Pharrell, just different swaggy stuff.”
On Monday, she will release the official remix to “Big Energy” featuring a mystery female guest, which is rumored to be Nicki Minaj.
Big Latto is currently bringing the “Big Energy” to a city near you on her “777 Tour” with Saucy Santana.
