The Golden Knights and AHL Henderson coach Manny Viveiros have mutually agreed to part ways, the team announced today.
Viveiros’ contract was set to expire June 30. He had been the Silver Knights’ coach from their inception in 2021, leading Henderson to two playoff appearances.
Henderson missed the playoffs for the first time this season.
“We thank Manny for his leadership and dedication in the first three seasons of the Henderson Silver Knights,” Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon said in a statement provided by the team. “He guided the club through some challenging circumstances and we are grateful for his efforts. We wish Manny all the best moving forward.”
Henderson was Viveiros’ first head coaching job in the AHL after three seasons in the Western Hockey League with Swift Current (2017-18) and Spokane (2020). He was an assistant with the Edmonton Oilers in 2019.
The Silver Knights went 25-13-1 in Viveiros’ first season, a year that was impacted by the pandemic and limited the Silver Knights’ schedule to Pacific Division teams. Henderson, led by goalie Logan Thompson, made it to the division championship series, lost the championship series to Bakersfield in a best-of-3 series.
Henderson made the playoffs last season, going 34-28-5, but were swept in the first round by Colorado.
The youth in Henderson was noticeable in 2023 with top prospects Brendan Brisson, Lukas Cormier and Kaedan Korczak seeing extended playing time. The Silver Knights went 29-38-5.
