The Mojave High football team was scheduled to leave campus at 4:45 p.m. Friday to travel to Sunrise Mountain for a 7 p.m. game.
But the bus never came. So they waited, and waited, until the bus arrived at 6:45 p.m.
The game concluded at 11 p.m. with Mojave claiming a 21-14 win, and only after the lights went out at 10 p.m.
“It’s all good,” Mojave coach Wes Pacheco said. “We kept the positive vibes. We are a glass-half-full mentality type of team.”
Zaquon Henderson had a pair of touchdown runs for Mojave, which improved to 2-0 overall. Josh Rudisill scored a defensive touchdown on an interception return.
