Back in 2002, the Los Angeles Lakers were working towards their third straight NBA title. While Shaq and Kobe are probably the first players that come to mind for many, the purple and gold also had some solid role players back in the day. One of them was point guard, Derek Fisher, who rocked a handful of player exclusive colorways of the Air Max Uptempo that season. 17 years later, Nike is a pair almost identical to one of Fisher’s PEs for the public.

This particular pair sports a white leather upper with bright yellow overlays on each toe, heel, and side panel. A large yellow Swoosh outlined in purple also dons each side panel. Additional purple detailing can be seen on the heel branding, tongue, and insole. The bulky performance model from the early 2000s sits atop full-length Air Max unit. Finishing touches include “AIR” stitched on the eyestays, heel and tongue pull tabs, and a purple Swoosh on the lateral heel area.
