Nike is getting a little nostalgic with the latest colorway of the Air Max 97. The new color scheme appears to be unofficially inspired by the classic gaming console that released a year prior, the Nintendo 64.

The upper is constructed of light grey mesh with matching leather overlays to resemble the system’s controller. The colorful buttons are represented by green, blue, red, and yellow detailing throughout.

Additional details to hammer home the theme include a mud guard covered in an all-over triangle print as a nod to the yellow directional buttons, “Power” and “Reset” written on each respective tongue, and “Air Max” written in similar style to Nintendo’s signature logo on the heel tab. A special graphic on the insole that vaguely resembles the ESRB rating symbol found on video game packaging completes the gamer-friendly design.

Take a closer look at the upcoming Nike Air Max 97 below. A release date has yet to be announced, but expect the pair to retail at $160.
