UNLV Rebels head coach Marcus Arroyo talks with officials during the first half of a game against the Wyoming Cowboys at Allegiant Stadium Friday, Nov. 27, 2020.

UNLV’s football game against Boise State has been canceled.

The two teams were set to play Friday at Allegiant Stadium, but the Mountain West announced the cancelation Wednesday evening due to “COVID issues in our region.”

The contest will not be rescheduled.

UNLV is 0-5 on the season, so the cancelation will do little to impact Marcus Arroyo’s dreary first year as head coach. Boise State, however, is 4-1 and harbors aspirations of winning the league championship, so it matters a bit more to the Broncos.

This is the second straight Boise State game to be canceled. UNLV has now had two games canceled, as a Nov. 21 road contest at Colorado State was also nixed.

UNLV now has just one game remaining in the 2020 season, as they’ll get set to head to Hawaii on Dec. 12.
