The Golden Knights have already had one game postponed because of COVID-19. Now, they they won’t play next week against the Sharks, either.
The NHL announced today that Vegas’ two games against the Sharks on Monday and Wednesday have been postponed due to the league’s COVID-19 protocols. Make-up dates have not been announced.
Four members of the Golden Knights, including three coaches, are in isolation.
Players and coaches on the league’s COVID protocol-related absences list have not necessarily returned a positive test for the virus.Team members who come in close contact with someone who is sick or need to isolate after travel also make the list.
Vegas general manager Kelly McCrimmon confirmed a coach tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, necessitating isolation for the coaching staff. McCrimmon coached Tuesday’s game with Silver Knights coaches as assistants.
Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo is the only player on the league’s list. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported he was experiencing mild symptoms of COVID-19.
The games against the Sharks were scheduled to be played in Glendale, Arizona, because local officials in San Jose would not allowed the Sharks to play at SAP Center. They are scheduled to return to San Jose on Feb. 13, and the postponed games are expected to be played at SAP center.
The Golden Knights training facility at City National Arena will be closed to players and staff until further notice. The parts of the building open to the public, such as the team shop and restaurant, will remain open.
