UNLV basketball court

UNLV Athletics

UNLV basketball will debut a new court for the season opener against Florida A&M on Nov. 11, 2017 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

UNLV announced today that longtime administrator Erick Harper will be stepping in as interim athletic director while the school searches for a full-time replacement for Desiree Reed-Francois.

Reed-Francois was introduced as the new AD at Missouri on Sunday after four years leading UNLV’s athletics department; her final day on the job was Friday.

On Monday, Reed-Francois made a surprise appearance at UNLV football practice to say goodbye to the players and coaches.

In a statement, UNLV said the hiring process for a full-time AD will take “several months.”

Harper has served as an athletics administrator at UNLV since 2012, when he joined the university as a senior associate athletics director for development. Prior to that, he was associate athletics director for football operations at Arizona for eight years.

“I’m incredibly honored to serve as UNLV’s interim director of athletics,” Harper said in a statement. “We have many great opportunities in front of us to continue growing our university and our athletics department and to reach heights never imagined at UNLV. The time for UNLV to rise is now and together we can achieve great things.”
