Zatravion Henderson had a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Mojave football team on about 30 carries in a season opening win over Valley, 28-14.
Luka Tuilaepa added to the Rattlers’ tally with a 40-yard interception return for a score, and Michael Wooton connected with Juelz Perry for a scoring strike.
“It was everything we wanted to do in terms of playing with discipline and playing hard,” Mojave coach Wes Pacheco said.
The game had extra significance for a handful of Mojave seniors who suffered through a winless season in 2019 and missed 2020 because of the pandemic.
“New program, new culture,” Pacheco said.
