Vegas Golden Knights left wing Pavel Dorofeyev, right, celebrates after scoring against the Pittsburgh Penguins during the third period of an NHL hockey game Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, in Las Vegas.

The Golden Knights rallied from two goals down in the third period and completed the comeback with a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.

Vegas scored three times in 4:22. Jonathan Marchessault opened the scoring at 5:18 to end Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry’s shutout bid; Pavel Dorofeyev tied it 1:34 later; and Brendan Brisson scored his first NHL goal at 9:40 to cap off the rally.

Logan Thompson made 23 saves to give the Golden Knights (27-14-5) their third straight victory and first such winning streak since winning four straight from Dec. 6-12.

The Penguins jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second period behind goals from defenseman Ryan Graves and forward Jake Guentzel. Vegas’ offense was held to 18 shots through two periods, but struggled to get quality chances on Jarry.

The depth and scoring came at the right time. The Golden Knights closed this stand of playing seven of eight games at home with a 5-3-0 mark after alternating wins and losses through the first five.

More importantly, the Golden Knights — despite eight players now on injured reserve — have found a way to string some wins together with one more week of action before the All-Star break.
