Golden Knights Take On Jets

The NHL announced today two injury replacements for the All-Star Game, including for Golden Knights center Jack Eichel.

Winnipeg Jets forward Kyle Connor and New York Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck will replace Eichel and Chicago Blackhawks rookie star Connor Bedard during All-Star Weekend in Toronto from Feb. 1-3.

Eichel was the Golden Knights’ lone representative for the league’s midseason classic, but is week to week after undergoing surgery related to a lower-body injury sustained on Jan. 11.

The defending Stanley Cup champions will not send any player to the All-Star Game, barring another injury replacement. Chandler Stephenson and Logan Thompson joined coach Bruce Cassidy in Sunrise, Fla. last season.

That might turn out to be a good thing for the Golden Knights. They could use the extra rest with eight players on injured reserve, including Eichel. Vegas is on a three-game winning streak and is coming off a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.

The Golden Knights begin a four-game east-coast road trip tonight in New Jersey (4 p.m., Vegas34) against the Devils.
