Rapper Dai Burger’s newest EP, “Dai Dreamin’” was released on February 13, bringing with it six magnificently diverse tracks. It has been released alongside the final of three music videos, this one to the titular “Dai Dreamin’.” Produced by the famed Mighty Mark and thismustbesaint, the EP is a track full of musical exploration, lyrical wit, bombastic beats, and positive vibes.

“This record is dedicated to 5-year-old me, Dainene,” Dai says. “She deserves to see her dreams come true.”

The EP is a dynamic musical journey that opens with its title track, “Dai Dreamin’,” a rap piece with funk and pop inspirations and a positive message about manifesting positive outcomes. “If you want it / go and get it / use ya power,” sings Dai, encouraging her listeners to acknowledge their goals and work toward them. The track has a positive vibe and catchy beat to fill listeners with the energy to reach for their dreams. This track sets a positive tone for the following five songs.

“Mirror, mirror,” is up next, continuing the positivity with an airy sound and reflective lyrics. The song is a ballad to self-actualization, explaining how Dai decided what she wanted to be and then, “I switched up my thoughts, my walk, my talk, and put that shit on.”

The EP then slams listeners with “Wole A$$ Mood (W.A.M.),” which parades between two distinct tones, being fierce in places and charming in others. This is a track about confidence, and it shows off not only Dai’s charismatic command of her voice and style but also her musical prowess. The track demands attention and respect, taking hold of the listener and pulling them onward.

Dai’s lyrical movement is quick and precise. From the playful, “Masterpiece,” which sees her rapping alongside Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik,” to the speaker-shaking anthem, “Let ‘Em Kno,” about understanding and proclaiming one’s own value, through the final movement of “Party Done,” the album serves to tell Dai’s story. The last track takes a breath after the climactic “Let ‘Em Kno,” as Dai’s charm leans into energetic percussion to turn “Party Done,” into a perfect closing act.

In her comments about the EP’s final music video, Dai Burger says, “Whether I’m guilty of hoodwinking the streets and galleries, or just being your average around the way girl chasing a dream isn’t made clear, but it’s safe to say that this Burger has quite the active imagination.”

Dai Burger has manifested a new musical achievement with this EP. The rapper, who got her start as a backup dancer, worked her way through musical collaborations to headline the Banjee Boombox in 2023 and has released two full albums and now two EPs, has a unique artistic presence that shouldn’t be missed.

Dai is at times sweet, at times ruthless, always slickly composed, and full of clever lyrics, and her presence is gaining power as she moves toward the future. “Dai Dreamin’” is more than just another entry in a discography. This is a powerful statement, perfect for this moment in Dai Burger’s career, as she confidently manifests her place in the industry.
