It’s not uncommon for me to see photos of the actor Logan Lerman—a time-honored “internet boyfriend”—on my social media feeds. A star since the early 2010s thanks to a few big movies based on beloved young adult novels (2012’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower, 2010’s Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief), his fans have lovingly followed him for years. Lately, their appreciation has matured into a more acute thirst. (As one viral tweet attached to a candid-looking photo of Lerman put it: “Every couple of months we get the hottest picture of this man we’ve ever seen.”)

This month, Logan Lerman is promoting the new Hulu miniseries We Were the Lucky Ones. Style has become an essential part of the famous man’s professional toolkit, and it’s never been easier to tell when an actor is starting to promote a new project. It’s almost like school picture day—all of a sudden, they appear in new paparazzi photos where their clothes look clean and shiny, their hair perfectly tousled into place. That’s what’s been happening over the past few weeks with Lerman, who has taken his formerly sober style—he wore a blue Prada polo and plain black slacks to the otherwise completely bonkers Bullet Train premiere in 2022—to new, hearthrobby heights.

At the show’s premiere in March, Lerman wore a Dolce & Gabbana evening coat with big, soft shoulders and exaggerated lapels. (Formal topcoats—a sort of brooding garment that makes for a long, theatrical silhouette—were a minor trend on the red carpet this past awards season, as worn by dramatic actors like Cillian Murphy, Bradley Cooper, and Rami Malek.) A low-slung silky tank and square-toed platform boots felt aimed at making the ensemble a bit more youthful, but it was still a pretty serious look.

Lerman’s recent looks have leaned a bit brighter (and more age-appropriate) since, and I’ve seen his subsequent press-tour outfits shared all over my timeline as of late: a blue corduroy Officine Générale suit with a white tee and black loafers for Good Morning America; a reversible houndstooth coat from the British label Dunhill with light-wash blue jeans, a V-neck sweater, and retro-looking hiker boots on a rainy New York City day. When he wore a double-breasted pinstripe suit with Celine loafers for an appearance on The Tonight Show, the outlet Elite Daily posted the photo with the caption, “He’s so man-written-by-a-woman coded.” (The primary lifeforce of the “internet boyfriend” phenomenon is, after all, the female gaze.)

On the We Were the Lucky Ones press tour, Lerman has been working with veteran stylists Wendi and Nicole Ferreira; the sister styling duo’s roster boasts Tom Cruise, Chris Pine, and Jacob Elordi, whose recent jump to superstardom produced a TikTok-dwelling subsection of dudes who want to dress like him. Now, Lerman’s landed alongside Elordi on the menswear moodboards—not exactly a bad place to be.
